"There’s nothing more healing than jumping into a 42°C hot spring on a cold winter day. If there is, it’s a glass of iced milk after soaking."

✨ Why Visit Arima with Ikikyo Inn in the Winter?

As one of Japan's three great hot springs, Arima Onsen is just an hour's drive from Osaka but feels like a world away. Narrow, winding stone paths, steam rising from onsen manju (hot spring buns), and the centuries-old "Gold Bath" and "Silver Bath" await you. For guests staying at Ikikyo Inn, this is the perfect "Day Trip". Depart in the morning and return to Osaka in the evening, enjoying the serenity of the hot springs while keeping the convenience of the city.

♨️ Must-Experience: The Secrets of Gold and Silver Baths

What makes Arima unique is the two completely different types of hot springs:

1. Gold Bath (Kinsenh) 🥇

  • Characteristics: A strong salt bath with high iron content, it turns a deep reddish-brown (gold) when exposed to air.
  • Benefits: Great for cold sensitivity and lower back pain. After soaking, your skin forms a salt coating, offering excellent warmth retention, earning it the name “Hot Bath”.
  • Experience: It’s recommended to visit the public bathhouse “Kin no Yu”. There's also a free foot bath at the entrance (don’t forget your towel!).

2. Silver Bath (Ginsen) 🥈

  • Characteristics: Colorless and transparent carbonated and radon spring.
  • Benefits: Boosts metabolism and is beneficial for high blood pressure.
  • Experience: The sensation of bubbles lightly popping on your skin is delightful, and it's perfect for those who enjoy a refreshing experience.

🏨 Spend Your Budget on Food, Stay at Ikikyo Inn

Traditional ryokan (inns) in Arima Onsen are very expensive (usually starting at 50,000 yen per night). As a savvy traveler, we recommend you “Stay in Osaka, Day Trip to Arima”.

💰 Why Is This More Cost-Effective?

  • Save on Accommodation: By choosing Ikikyo Inn, you can enjoy a comfortable stay for only 1/5 the price of a hot spring ryokan.
  • More Food Options: The money you save on accommodation can be spent on a top-quality Kobe beef meal in Arima, or eating your way through Osaka’s Kuromon Market.
  • Convenient Transport: Our inn is very conveniently located near the bus stop or train transfer points for Arima. Depart in the morning and return in the evening without any hassle.

🔥 Warm Up This Winter Starting with Your Reservation

While winter in Osaka can be cold, our rooms are warm and cozy.

🚇 Transportation Guide (Most Comfortable Route)

Instead of switching trains multiple times, we strongly recommend taking the direct highway bus.

  • Recommended Route: Hankyu Highway Bus
  • Departure Point: Osaka Umeda Station (Hankyu Sanbangai Bus Terminal)
  • Destination: Arima Onsen (Direct)
  • Travel Time: About 60 minutes
  • Fare: Around 1400 yen (reservation required, we can handle it for you)

💡 Host Tip: If you really want to enjoy the scenic train ride, purchase the “Arima Rokko Pass”, which includes round-trip train tickets and onsen entry tickets, offering great value.

⚠️ Host’s “Winter Onsen Etiquette” Tips

  1. Before Entering the Bath: Be sure to wash your body thoroughly in the shower area before entering the bath. This is a fundamental Japanese onsen etiquette.
  2. Towels: Large bath towels should stay in the changing room, while small towels can be brought into the bath. Never dip your towel in the hot spring water (you can place it on your head).
  3. Tattoos: Most public onsens in Japan prohibit tattooed individuals from entering. If you have tattoos, we recommend booking a room with a private onsen or using a cover-up patch.
  4. Hydration: Hot spring baths can dehydrate you, so be sure to drink plenty of water before and after soaking.

❄️ In this cold season, let the waters of Arima warm your body and soul, and let Ikikyo Inn warm your journey.
